Due to a failed SSD I have re-installed Gentoo but 'startx' is failing as shown. Luckily, I have been testing (~amd64) on a second SSD but with NoX as amdgpu does not support this GPU (Oland GCN 1.0). So I disabled amdgpu and enabled radeon driver. This setup worked on the failed SSD though as stable (amd64) not testing.
Some detail on this re-installed system:
- profile: 17.0/no-mutilib
xorg.log: https://paste.pound-python.org/show/Uli08haD8JHconeaMH4l/
kernel .config: https://paste.pound-python.org/show/1lTjwQLGClUKJ64BN89h/
dmesg https://paste.pound-python.org/show/yqITQyNIDqTZnJEIG4tW/
Both root and regular user fail. I've seen a few posts about this problem including in this forum: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1053260-start-0.html
Thanks.
btw, I did image the failed disk a couple months ago as the failed SSD was alerting so I do have that option. I don't know if it was Neddy's signature but its nice to think so. :)
Edit: Recent sync pulls in xorg-server reversion. Thanks fedeliallalinea.
