Hello dear Gentoocom,

i chose gentoo because i want to learn everything about linux for the first time,
I'm tired of amazonapps, and a garbage, at z.b. ubuntu,

At first, however, I am at the very beginning!

fter I created a livecd stick, I started. the kernel itself configured, everything made so far, days needed, had tens of details to find to read, etc. I had a lot of trouble to understand everything.
I build the kernel without initframs.

then finally arrived at grub trail, but it remained stuck at grub loading.
I would like to get along without uefi, efi.
the analysis showed, that i probably set my biosgrub partition with set boot flag at the beginning, so the partionon was no longer unformariert but had an ext2.

So everything again from the beginning.

This time I went to the kernel conf a little rough on the thing, minimalist yet. however, in my current attempt, I have more difficulties with emerge, and notice, I just have too little idea.
so hello dear community again!

First question:

USEflags
I've read the USEflags make everything more individual, you can even invent your own, wow!
somehow I still handle the flags indiscriminately. if emerge does not work out, I usually put in the short term what they want me to do, in my last attempt it was often enough to just add a separately mentioned one.
is that the kernel conf? that now with the USEflags everything does not work as easy as on my first try.
I would rather make everything new again and the kernel with make.nconf z.b. try to optimize again?
and then handle the flags with less concern?

second question:

how can i solve this problem? i install some things i will need,
but some failed sys-fs/e2fsprogs, wpa_supplicant, grub, several things have equal output,
and i tryed a lot, but i am stuck in.

Code:

HI algori,

Welcome to gentoo.

The first error you posted is just informing you that the compilation failed. We would need the actual build log in order to help you.

Code:
* The complete build log is located at '/var/tmp/portage/sys-boot/grub-2.02/temp/build.
log'.

The second error is telling you that you cannot have both the opengl and static-libs use flags sets for app-text/mupdf. Most likely you need opengl, so the best way to solve this would probably be to disable static-libs for mupdf unless you explicitly need them (if you don't know, you probably don't).

You can do this by running:

echo "app-text/mupdf -static-libs" > /etc/portage/package.use/mupdf

Then try the command that failed again.

Algori,

You have gone a bit overboard with USE flags.

Until your system boot on its own, choose the profile you want with
Code:
eselect profile
and do not do any USE flag fine tuning at all.
This may lead to some extra rebuilds but its safe.

When you change USE flags and portage can't solve the dependencies, you will know why.
Build on what you know works.

Some of the USE flags you have in make.conf should never be used system wide.
bindist libressl livecd minimal pax_kernel static-libs to name a few.
There are others too.

bindist is to build a system that you can distribute in binary form. If you will do that, leave in on.
libressl is broken meanwhile
livecd is for building the Gentoo liveCD.

Hello again,

like i mentioned,
i did everything before this new try, but failed by doing set boot flag on.
anyway i did the kernelconfig with much more love before, more details, more time, what ever, this time, i just set the nessesary drivers and stuff.
maybe i should conf the kernel again?

i set profile

Code:
(chroot) livecd /usr/src/linux # eselect profile list
Available profile symlink targets:
  [1]   default/linux/amd64/13.0 (stable)
  [2]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/selinux (dev)
  [3]   default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop (stable)

  [14]  default/linux/amd64/17.0/hardened (stable)
  [15]  default/linux/amd64/17.0/hardened/selinux (dev)

  [25]  default/linux/amd64/17.0/systemd (stable)
  [26]  default/linux/amd64/17.0/x32 (dev)

because i do not want gnome or plasma, this will work, right?
i get always confused by graphical desktopenviroments, it does not seem to be overviewed, for me.

i tryed the same emerge, by testing a lot, sure i did set -static-libs for example too, now i did it with your echo input as well, and i learn some about, because now i know the pin pong between local and global useflag, a litte.

these useflags i`ve got them by
Code:
cat /proc/cpuinfo

and some of these you mentioned, i just put them into, because i try to emerge for example sudo, i was mentioned, i did it, and it works. now i set "-" before, thank you.
i should find more literature about, i start to read the whole portage side.

aright

i tried, but it fails again,

Code:

It might be possible to break this cycle
by applying any of the following changes:
- dev-util/cmake-3.9.6 (Change USE: -qt5)
- media-libs/harfbuzz-1.7.2 (Change USE: -graphite)

Note that this change can be reverted, once the package has been installed.

Note that the dependency graph contains a lot of cycles.
Several changes might be required to resolve all cycles.
Temporarily changing some use flag for all packages might be the better option.

!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

by applying all of the following changes:
   - dev-libs/openssl-1.0.2n (Change USE: +bindist)

really i do not have this problems before, and if i change some, it works, or its worse, but of course i have to learn much more details, but i am glad, if you maybe draw my attention to the mainpoint.

i am motivated to read everything about, learn what i need to, step by step, point to point, because i defnitly want to handle these, and ive got time and i live for science, little hobbystuff, but i will need this experience for sure.

should i go through all this packages?
btw. now i install x11 first, lets see.

by the way, i maybe have to install ubuntu as a secondthing, to work, while i learn to handle this gentoo haven.
hope this will work without efi, and i am able to cut it out, if i am ready to.
i study mathematics, thats why i am not able to get through all this in less time, but i am hang on, and wont jump away.

truly yours

Remove bindist use flag from your make.conf and rebuild package with emerge -UD @world, that is required only if you distribute binary package.
For e2fsprogs and libX11 you should post build.log with wgetpaste
