Hi,
I have a problem in emerge firefox-58.0.1. There are no error messages in compile phase. But there are warnings. And emerge fails. Does anybody have similar issues and how can I solve it?
Here is error from the emerge. I don't know how to paste the whole log. It is quite long. So I paste the bottom. Please let me know if you need more information

The "bottom" doesn't contain the actual error.
Code: | wgetpaste /tmp/portage/www-client/firefox-58.0.1/temp/build.log | And post the link. |

kceiw,
What steve_v said.
The actual error will be in the lines leading up to the text Error 1in the log.
Knowing the actual error doesn't always help with the root cause, so the whole log is better.
Firefox is a big program but with KiB Mem: 16429176 total and MAKEOPTS="-j4" the build process should fit into RAM. _________________ Regards,

There's an open bug, but workaround mentioned not convince me. I installed firefox-58 without multitarget use flag enabled on sys-libs/binutils-libs. _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Thanks for your bug, fedeliallalinea.
I'll give it a shot to compile binutils-libs with multitarget.
At the same time, I also found this bug https://bugs.gentoo.org/645222 and I don't know they're caused by the same issue. |

Hello there,
I ran into this issue while compiling Firefox today and tried the aforementioned fix, but to no avail.
I was in the middle of recompiling without dbus and pulseaudio when it failed, so I wasn't sure exactly what was to blame.
Here are the use flags I have for Firefox and the associated system libraries/database:
www-client/firefox hwaccel eme-free system-jpeg system-icu system-harfbuzz system-libevent system-libvpx system-sqlite
media-libs/libvpx postproc
dev-libs/libevent threads
dev-db/sqlite secure-delete
The focus is on the system-* use flags, I found out that system-libevent was causing the compile to fail.
Setting the threads use flag for libevent fixed the problem for me.
I'm not sure what kind of repercussions this may have, so I apologize in advance. Hope this helps.
Side note: I was able to compile it no problem without the system-* use flags as well. |
