Sound loss after suspend to ram

I have finally restored the ability of KDE to suspend to ram. It worked until the upgrade to KDE5,
but a persistent problem still exists. What use to occur still does and that is when the system is suspended
to ram and then awaken there is no sound. Only after rebooting is sound restored. I've done
many searches and yet to find anything that answers this problem. Does anyone have a clue
just what is happening?

EDIT: I may have discovered a part of the problem, but I'm unsure how to fix it. Below is just a portion of my dmesg

What did you do to determine that sound is not working? On which kernel versions did you do this? Are you sure the problem was caused by the upgrade to KDE Plasma, not by a kernel upgrade? Does your sleep procedure mute the sound card? Some scripts mute on sleep to make it safe to wake the system in quiet places (such as libraries).

I think your question is a good one. I may have mis-spoken. I don't think it was a Plasma upgrade as I think
sound loss was an issue in each case. I'd not considered that sound may have been intentionally muted.
I'm not certain where to look for that, but will.

To check for muting (and low volume, which can cause similar symptoms), use alsamixer if you prefer graphical navigation or amixer if you want to print out all the sound state (good for sharing on the forum).

You could also try simple test programs like speaker-test (read the manual page for best usage mode for your case). I expect that your problem is that no sound can be emitted, rather than that particular programs fail post-suspend.
