Is JFFS2 bootable? I have a new laptop with a M.2 stick in it and I would prefer to use something designed for flash media, if possible. If not, I will likely continue to use BTRFS.

The_Great_Sephiroth,

This is really two questions.

For root to be on JFFS2, you need a kernel or initrd that understands JFFS2.
For boot to be on JFFS2, you need a boot loader that understands JFFS2.
For UEFI, you are stuck with VFAT.

I understand the need for FAT32 for the EFI partition, but the rest could be JFFS2. After testing however, BTRFS was faster so I went with it. Had to use ext4 for the VM partition because I did not know whether or not VirtualBox would use JFFS2 or have issues with it. I know VBox is picky with where ISO images are stored (seriously, I do not understand why I cannot store a freaking ISO on BTRFS for VBox) so I stuck with ext4 for the VM/ISO partition.
