|
|
Greetings,
Last night I completed a successful install of Gentoo on a MacPro1,1 with 2 x Dual-Core Intel Xeon and 10G of memory. I used the instructions on UEFI install but apparently there is either something I missed or it is a Mac specific issue. I was also using these instructions https://vitobotta.com/2016/10/10/install-gentoo-on-macbook-pro/ I found for installing specifically on a MacBook Pro, but I didn't figure there would be any difference at that level. Thank you in advance for any help given. |

Do you get any sort of errors when you boot? What exactly happens when you turn your laptop on? |

All I get is flashing black screens and eventually a white screen with a blinking folder. |

I have vaguely heard of that, I'll have to take a look. |

Okay, I believe I know what the issue is, but I am not quite sure how to resolve it. Mac's like mine use a 32-bit UEFI, but I believe the install process installs a 64-bit UEFI...so, how do I go about installing a 32-bit UEFI? |

There is an ebuild for refind, however it is 64-bit only...I even set it to x86 under package.accept_keywords. Since the hardware only supports a 32-bit UEFI, refind will not be my solution to this. |

I am willing to use binary, but for some reason I did not see it...I just found it and will take another look. |
