That said, I did kind of forget a little to reply...
Did you try the hacky workaround (the “second one”) that I provided here?
A better thing to try might be the 9999 version (or wait for the next release):

Maybe VAAPI would be more reliable. There's a PR for that on their tracker, but it sounds like there's a different set of issues preventing it going in. |

Adding "uvm" use flag to nvidia-drivers does the work for me. |
