Bootup messages over IPMI Serial Over Lan (SoL)

Hi,
I have a Supermicro server which has IPMI and SOL support. When the system is booted up the initial messages come through SoL. However, gentoo takes over and stops displaying the Sol messages, instead the bootup messages go to the primary display. How can i have the bootup messages on both primary display and SoL?

Th first tip is in the name already: SOL -> _SERIAL) over LAN.
I have modified /etc/inittab used by my servers to expose another terminal attachehd to /dev/ttyS1.
Perhaps adding console=ttyS1 (or whatever serial port is redirected by IPMI) would let you send boot-time messages to that channel. I haven't tried, but it looks promising.
It may or may not require you to specify baud rate as well.
