Hi all,

Computer model: Lenovo B71-80

There are 2 problems which may be related:
- network interface takes a long time to get IP address from router
- bluetooth: failed connection

Problem description:
The laptop is usually in the same location connected with the same cable to the same router. Most of the time it takes minutes or longer to get an IP address from the router. Sometimes I do get an IP instantly. Unplugging the network cable sometimes triggers something.
I use networkmanager through "nmcli". A typical output of "nmcli monitor" looks like this:
Code:
~ $ nmcli monitor
enp1s0: connection failed
Networkmanager is now in the 'disconnected' state
enp1s0: disconnected
Networkmanager is now in the 'connecting' state
enp1s0: connecting (getting IP configuration)
enp1s0: using connection 'Wired connection 1'
Networkmanager is now in the 'disconnected' state
enp1s0: disconnected
Networkmanager is now in the 'connecting' state
enp1s0: connecting (configuring)
enp1s0: using connection 'Wired connection 1'
enp1s0: connection failed

enp1s0: using connection 'Wired connection 1'

enp1s0: unavailable

enp1s0: using connection 'Wired connection 1'

enp1s0: connecting (getting IP configuration)
enp1s0: using connection 'Wired connection 1'
enp1s0: connection failed

enp1s0: disconnected

At this point I stopped it and rebooted.

Code:
~ $ nmcli monitor

'Wired connection 1' is now the primary connection
Networkmanager is now in the 'connected' state
enp1s0: connected

Total time: 15 minutes

I also have a problem with bluetooth. I do:
Code:
~ $ sudo rc-service bluetooth start
~ $ sudo rfkill unblock bluetooth
~ $ bluetoothctl
[NEW] Controller 08:D4:0C:78:10:17 osprey [default]
[NEW] Device 54:27:1E:08:67:7E JOAO
[NEW] Device 04:52:C7:7D:50:09 Bose QuietComfort 35
Agent registered
[bluetooth]#

After enabling pairing on Bose QuietComfort 35 for 1 second the terminal dispays:
[Bose QuietComfort 35]# instead of [bluetooth]#
The head phones say mobile device not found.

Finally the terminal looks like this:
Code:
[NEW] Controller 08:D4:0C:78:10:17 osprey [default]
[NEW] Device 54:27:1E:08:67:7E JOAO
[NEW] Device 04:52:C7:7D:50:09 Bose QuietComfort 35
Agent registered
[CHG] Device 04:52:C7:7D:50:09 Connected: yes
[CHG] Device 04:52:C7:7D:50:09 Connected: no
[bluetooth]#

~ $ blueman-manager

This works. The weird thing here is that it says connected to something I can not understand.
Since a few days it says connected to the correct device name.

Turning on my headphones usually results in a failed connection. Even when I use bluetoothctl. Sometimes the bluetoothctl works. When I use blueman-manager I always get a connection.

The funny thing: While I am doing this bluetooth stuff it seems that I get an IP faster. Thus, I think the 2 problems could be related because of this.

Other facts:
- My other laptop running Fedora 26 does not have problems getting an IP address. I guess this rules out the router.
- As I eventually get an IP and properly working network connection we can rule out a bad cable.

Is this a driver problem? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gerald
