Can I remove python-updater or will it be removed automatically?
I've done a couple of world updates and noticed python-updater will be removed.
It looks like nothing needs to be done with /etc/portage/make.conf and /etc/portage/package.use/
and everything will be done with eseslect and emerge --changed-use
# Mike Gilbert <floppym@gentoo.org> (13 Nov 2017)
# python-updater is obsolete. Utilize PYTHON_TARGETS and
# emerge --changed-use to rebuild packages instead.
# Removal in 30 days.
To prepare for this I read: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Python/PYTHON_TARGETS
defaulted in profiles and can be changed in make.conf.

If you don't need to eanble some "strange" configuration of python, portage usually manage python stuff in a transparent manner. _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

I had python-updater installed and was never successful to use it to fix any issues before portage started doing a better job updating python (and perl) now... It was depcleaned last year according to my logs. _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD
