I am planning to replace my almost four year old Gentoo system with an Asus X299 motherboard based system and either a 512GB Samusng 960 EVO or 960 PRO M.2 SSD.
Are there any issues with having my /boot and root (/) partitions on a M.2 based ssd?
I assume I'll need to turn off "secure" boot from BIOS.
Are there any current "best practices guides" about using SSDs on Linux?
I know about:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/SSD
and
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7879854.html

Thanks.

Turn off secure boot
Add kernel parameter for NVMe https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/NVMe

And follow by GPT and EFI kernel config, if you are thinking about using that, other wise its just straight forward, and one thing i always stumble across is that my file system, especially /boot is ro

Code:
mount -o remount,rw /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
mount -o remount,rw /boot

does the trick for me.
