Hi everybody. :)
I'm Jean-Yves from France so sorry if my english is not perfect.
I use gentoo since 6 month , i have read some docs, but sometimes i found it a bit complicated.
Anyway i want to go on with it because i need to progress in programming and i find gentoo interesting.
I synced my system after a while because i was not at home:
Code:

emerge --sync

then did a :
Code:

emerge --update --newuse --deep @world

which went well relatively well after some unmerge.
But now i can't install app-office/libreoffice:
Code:

 sudo emerge -av app-office/libreoffice

 * IMPORTANT: 12 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news read to view new items.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

I would say that a type is "not big enought" but i do not know what to do or check a this step.
I heard of a problem related to gcc version but not sure that i am in this case.

Unfortunately, not yet familiar to the forum, I did not find how to link the mentionned big log file above instead of copying it,
which i did not do.

Don't hesitate to ask me more informations.
I thank you in advance for your help.

A bientôt!

Thanks you so much for these advices.
I pasted the /tmp/portage/dev-libs/libixion-0.11.1/work/libixion-0.11.1/config.log content here:

If you changed gcc from 4.9.3 to 5.4.0 run this commad
Code:
# revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6' -- --exclude gcc

more info here

I did it and then it hangs at 17th emerge :
Code:

What is strange is that when i run scons -j4 libdouble-conversion.so.1 on the command line , i dont have this error, and scons builds libdouble-convertion but i do not know why it does not when runned throught the emerge process.

The problem is à do not know scons nor emerge enought to know what i could check at this step.
I's seen others topics about scons but they are a bit differents.
Thanks for help.

For now, skip over that package and rebuild the other packages indicated by revdep-rebuild. It is unlikely that your SCons problem will be resolved as a side effect, but we know that your C++ libraries need maintenance, so we should try to finish that first.

Thanks to reply.
I did it with a script loop to avoid the whole ebuild process falls down if one package could not emerge: it took most part of the night.

Then i tried to re-installed libixion which is a dependency for app-office/libreoffice and now scons seems to have been pulled out the dependency tree: good!
But i am still getting a config link problem that the .configure script complains it does not found how to link with glib.

You will see his content here:
https://paste.pound-python.org/show/Nk9d2CWhmrQyo2v2Esie/

Thank you very mutch.

To precise : we can see the lines :
cannot found -lpthread
and
cannot found -llthead
into the pasted log file.

According to THIS thread i re-emerged dev-libs/boost library before trying to re-emerge libixion but without success.

Code:

root# eix  dev-libs/libixion
* dev-libs/libixion
     Available versions:  0.11.1(0/0.11) ~0.12.2(0/0.12) **9999(0/0.13) {debug python static-libs +threads PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET="python3_4 python3_5 python3_6" PYTHON_TARGETS="python3_4 python3_5 python3_6"}
     Homepage:            https://gitlab.com/ixion/ixion
Description:         General purpose formula parser & interpreter

Code:

equery uses  dev-libs/libixion
Legend : U - final flag setting for installation
: I - package is installed with flag
 Colors : set, unset
 * Found these USE flags for dev-libs/libixion-0.11.1:
 U I
+ + python                         : Add optional support/bindings for the Python language
 + + python_single_target_python3_4 : Build for Python 3.4 only
 + + python_targets_python3_4       : Build with Python 3.4
 - - static-libs                    : Build static versions of dynamic libraries as well

Oups: something strange here : last time i did it there where the thread uses.It comes to disappear?
need to diagnose ..... see you soon...

No sorry i am confounding with the dev-libs/boost use flags which thread is well enabled:
Code:

 - - abi_x86_32               : 32-bit (x86) libraries
+ + context                  : Build and install the Boost.Context (and Boost.Fiber) library and all other Boost libraries that depend on it
 - - debug                    : (Restricted to <dev-libs/boost-1.50.0-r3)
Build and install debug versions of the Boost libraries. These libraries are not used by default, and should not be used unless you're developing against Boost.
 - - doc                      : Install the full API documentation documentation. This takes over 200MB of extra disk space.
 - - icu                      : Enable ICU (Internationalization Components for Unicode) support, using dev-libs/icu
 - - mpi                      : Add MPI (Message Passing Interface) layer to the apps that support it
+ + nls                      : Build libboost_locale. This library requires compatible C library interfaces, which might not be provided by uClibc or other embedded libraries.
+ + python                   : Add optional support/bindings for the Python language
 + + python_targets_python2_7 : Build with Python 2.7
 + + python_targets_python3_4 : Build with Python 3.4
 - - static-libs              : Build static versions of dynamic libraries as well
 + + threads                  : Build multi-thread-compatible libraries instead of single-threaded only.
 - - tools                    : Build and install the boost tools (bcp, quickbook, inspect, wave)

Unfortunately there is still a problem.

Neither did i.
Thanks very much : you tried.

I realized that the next unstable version of libreoffice builds without problem.
Because it uses the next version libixion and this one builds well.

So i'll not close the subject, until i'll try to debug configure script for current version to see what happens.

As a wrong workaround i installed libreoffice unstable version which happiness does
not break the entire dependencies: only 2 or free libs including libixion.
Next libixion builds without problems.

But i'd like to understand what happens.

on my gentoo x86 stable, i have these built with these flags and all working ok. maybe it might help you try on your system?
Code:
$ emerge -pv libreoffice libixion boost

These are the packages that would be merged:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R    ] app-office/libreoffice-5.2.7.2::gentoo  USE="(-aqua) -bluetooth -branding (-coinmp) -collada -cups -dbus -debug -eds (-firebird) -gltf -gnome -googledrive -gstreamer -gtk -gtk3 -java -jemalloc -kde (-libressl) -mysql -odk -pdfimport -postgres -quickstarter (-telepathy) {-test} -vlc" LIBREOFFICE_EXTENSIONS="-nlpsolver -scripting-beanshell -scripting-javascript -wiki-publisher" PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET="python2_7 -python3_4 (-python3_5)" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 -python3_4 (-python3_5)" 0 KiB

I could resolve the scons problem, then could install this version which is the current stable on my system: 2.3.5

Code:
dev-util/scons
     Available versions:  2.3.5 2.4.1 ~2.5.0 ~2.5.1 [M]~3.0.0 {doc PYTHON_TARGETS="pypy python2_7 python3_5 python3_6"}
     Installed versions:  2.3.5(11:53:09 12/11/2017)(-doc PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 -pypy")
     Homepage:            http://www.scons.org/
     Description:         Extensible Python-based build utility

version.
It seems that scons python script does not find the library the way it searches it.

So i had to symlink:
Code:
 ln -s /usr/lib/python-exec/python-exec2 /usr/lib/scons

then scons could compile.

UP?
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1066990-highlight-libixion.html
I followed each post on the subject but could not compile libixion.
It still says that it cannot find boost parameters.
Could you help me to understand what sucks?
I did everything that can be done and until now nobody could tell me what i missed.
I realised that with Gentoo there are many problems that remain unresolved.
Unfortunatly all linuxes sucks these years.
They bought me many services but they are becoming fat mamas. :x

Hello asturm.

Thank you to reply.

My version of gentoolkit:
Code:

[I] app-portage/gentoolkit
     Available versions:  0.3.0.8-r2 0.3.2-r1 0.3.3 [b][u]0.4.0[/u][/b] **9999 {PYTHON_TARGETS="pypy python2_7 python3_4 python3_5 python3_6"}
     Installed versions:  0.4.0(12:20:54 11/11/2017)(PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_4 -pypy -python3_5 -python3_6")
     Homepage:            https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Portage-Tools
Description:         Collection of administration scripts for Gentoo

: 0.4.0 which is higher than 0.3.1
I made
Code:

revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6' -- --exclude gcc

Several times and retried it recently.
Other idea?
Thanks you to try anyway. [/b][/code]

In addition i print here my version of gcc:

Code:
[ebuild   R    ] sys-devel/gcc-5.4.0-r3:5.4.0::gentoo  USE="cxx fortran gcj (multilib) nls nptl openmp sanitize vtv (-altivec) (-awt) -cilk -debug -doc (-fixed-point) -go -graphite (-hardened) (-jit) (-libssp) -mpx -nopie -nossp -objc -objc++ -objc-gc -pgo -regression-test -vanilla" 0 K

I come to make an emerge -f gcc ( who knows) , followed by emerge -v gcc...
let's wait the end of compilation.
Any other ideas?
