Hi,

I just finished fresh install on Dell XPS 13 (I note this as it is really better to use distcc and binary host), those 2 cores doesn't perform well, enough for desktop, but not for compilation...

My problem is with KDE plasma settings, I have following versions installed:
Code:
[U] kde-plasma/systemsettings
     Available versions:  (5) 5.10.5 (~)5.11.2
       {classic debug gtk +handbook}
     Installed versions:  5.10.5(5)(01:18:18 PM 11/02/2017)(handbook -classic -debug -gtk)
     Homepage:            https://www.kde.org/
     Description:         System settings utility

[I] kde-plasma/plasma-desktop
     Available versions:  (5) (~)5.8.4[1] (~)5.8.5[1] 5.8.5-r1[1] 5.10.5 (~)5.11.2
       {appstream debug +fontconfig gtk2 gtk3 +handbook ibus legacy-systray +mouse packagekit pulseaudio +qt4 scim +semantic-desktop test touchpad INPUT_DEVICES="+evdev synaptics"}
     Installed versions:  5.11.2(5)(10:17:04 PM 10/31/2017)(fontconfig handbook mouse pulseaudio semantic-desktop -appstream -debug -gtk2 -gtk3 -ibus -legacy-systray -qt4 -scim -test -touchpad)
     Homepage:            https://www.kde.org/
     Description:         KDE Plasma desktop

[1] "poly-c" /var/lib/layman/poly-c

I cannot access Display and Monitor, when I click in the menu I access the Compositor Settings for Desktop Effects, but there is not show of monitor resolution, etc. it is showing wrong tab completely I tried both versions to emerge available in Gentoo tree.

Has anyone else similar issue?

Did you follow the gentoo kde wiki and install plasma-meta? Probably not?

Yes, I actually installed only plasma-desktop and later emerged explicitly system settings. Thing is that all configurations available in system settings work as expected, I get correct config for all except when I click on monitors I get desktop effects... It was fresh installation.

Actually I did one possibly MAJOR mistake, as I was in hurry I forgot to pull in policikyt udev consolekit services :-), but later I did:
Code:
emerge --changed-use --newuse ....
emerge -e plasma-desktop

, so all dependencies were emerged again.

I wonder what could be behind this behavior, or where are the files to check, just monitor config doesn't work :-)

Here is my current snippet from make.conf:
Code:
USE="glamor nls a52 dts ffmpeg bzip2 lzma -lz4 lzo zlib mtp opengl -bindist jpeg \
     png tiff threads -gtk -gnome -qt4 qt5 -kde consolekit policykit dvd udev \
     udisks dbus alsa pulseaudio X cdr networkmanager"

CPU_FLAGS_X86="mmx sse sse2 sse3 ssse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 aes mmxext avx avx2 fma3 f16c"
#GRUB_PLATFORMS="efi-64"

VIDEO_CARDS="intel i965"
INPUT_DEVICES="evdev synaptics"

Well, systemsettings does not contain all possible KCMs, it is just the user friendly way to access them. What you miss is kscreen.

Please note I don't consider your installation really supported.

Here is currently different plasma 5 main versions packages installed - I think this is not a good idea.
A update should probably help: -->
Code:
emerge -avuDN @world plasma-meta

asturm,

actually on the wiki page of Gentoo there is statement:
Quote:

Alternatively, kde-plasma/plasma-desktop provides the basic desktop, leaving users free to install only the extra packages they require:

root #emerge --ask kde-plasma/plasma-desktop

I would expect that if I pull in systemsettings for KDE, that kscreen is dependency and will be automatically installed. I use otherwise on workstation(36 cores) or i7 laptop(4cores) full KDE, but in the moment my i7 is being repaired and got into my hands Dell XPS 13 which has 2 cores, so I tried to install only lightweight plasma dekstop including systemsettings and few more apps.

Should I raise a bug to include kscreen in systemsettings as dependency as it doesn't work out of the box otherwise.

If you don't want to hunt for missing stuff, install plasma-meta.
