Hi, I have a problem, namely Kodi fails to play menus in bluray discs. This started with version 17. Prior versions had no problems. I think this may be related to this thread over here
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=303932
but I'm not really sure about it. The symptoms are the same. The menu sound plays and loops, but the actual menu entries do not appear. Some people suggested disabling vdpau. I did it, but it sill doesn't work. Since the problem has been around for a while, does anyone have a workaround or any idea of when it is going to be fixed?

Hmm, within a few weeks it should be fixed, if not perhaps go back to the previous version

How do you know? The problem has been around for quite a while now.
At the moment, I'm using still the previous version (16). I am fully aware that it has security problems, I'm OK with that, since the vulnerability only happens with particular types of subtitles, but I would still prefer the bug to be fixed...

Just tried version 17.4_rc1. The problem is still there exactly as before. Does anyone have any clue as to if and when it will be fixed?

I noticed a commit in 17.4 https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/d87dfb59992f375a7ef4f97bdb2616642fa44d44 that may help you with bluray menus.

Please give 17.4 a shot and report back. :D

Just checked. Same as before. I believe it has to be something that changed between versions 16 and 17, because with the 16 it works perfectly fine.

So, I just tried version 17.4-r1 and now I simply get a message saying "The menus of this blu-ray are not supported". :?
Seriously?! This is getting ridiculous! The very same disc (and all the others I have) work perfectly with Kodi-16, but somehow in the new version they stopped working?

Just tried version 17.5-r1. The error message is no longer there, but the menus keep not working.
Anyone has any idea if the devs intend to fix this?

I just searched trac.kodi.tv for 'blueray' and didn't see your bug report. When did you submit it? There is no such bug filed in bugs.gentoo.org, either.

Uhm... I posted a message on the kodi support forum. Should I open a bug in the TRAC and/or in the Gentoo bugzilla?

Kodi forums are user forums, although visited by developers. Since you are using Gentoo filing a bug at bugs.gentoo.org probably is the right thing to do.

Yes, the one on the Gentoo bugzilla is me. I'm going to try with the kodi-9999 now and see what happens.

OK, I cannot try with kodi-9999 because it segfaults as soon as I click "play disk"
Code:
mesa: for the -simplifycfg-sink-common option: may only occur zero or one times!
Segmentation fault

I have no clue what this is due to.
