If you lack codec your card won't work, even you have snd_hda_intel properly loaded, see https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-6339697.html#6339697
And if your hdmi card is set as default device (or first), you will also have no sound except from it. see https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/ALSA#Laptops_with_HDMI_audio_output

If you are in doubt, post your dmesg, head -1 /proc/asound/card?/codec*
and please, set your output in english, i suppose it's german, anyway i don't get anything at it (it mean instead of <command> use <LANC=C command> instead, so its output will be in english)

I use an extern speaker with HDMI. It works on Linux Mint.

whatever you think you have done with your kernel was done wrong, you have no snd_hda_intel message in your dmesg, so no snd_hda_intel loaded, it's just missing, if you add it to your kernel, it mean you have fail at rebuilding it or installing the new one.
In my link about codec you have kernel list of options to add in your kernel

michi-monster,

That's good, you are using the kernel you think you are. Notice the time/dates are the same.

Please put your entire .config file onto a pastebin site and post the link.

michi-monster,

What do you have in /dev/snd ?
The index=0,1 will reverse the order of your sound cards, which is what you want.

Are there any errors at the end of dmesg after you did the modprobe ?

Cannot hear anything is not really a problem as long as speaker-test show it is working.
It could be that your speakers are not connect to the default soundcard (you can switch that using neddyseagoon's advice upper, or the link i gave about laptop and hdmi.
Or even simpler, it could just be that all is fine, but volume is mute or at 0 :)

I'm more in doubt because manually load it works, but it should have done that for you from the very start itself.
We will see, you might have another issue, but with your device manager rather than sound.
