I am trying to update system and after this command (by using backtrack, as portage suggested):
Code: | emerge -uavNt --deep --with-bdeps=y --keep-going --backtrack=100 --verbose-conflicts @world |
Get this output:

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously.
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook. |
Do not know what package to mask or any other solution... Please advise! _________________ “You can take our property, our sweet homes, even our cloths...

kde-misc/kio-mtp package not longer exists. Remove this package and if you want mtp support in plasma you can enable mtp use flag to kde-apps/kio-extras packages _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Are you having any of libmspub, libfreehand, raptor or libebook in your @world file?
Be aware to have your world file cleaned before doing the update: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/World_set_%28Portage%29#Keep_it_clean

Add the the --complete-graph option: Quote: | emerge -uavNt --deep --with-bdeps=y --complete-graph --keep-going --backtrack=100 --verbose-conflicts @world |

I just unmerged kde-misc/kio-mtp as fedeliallalinea suggested and now updating is running ok (without backtrack)...
Meanwhile I need to read charles17's link and figure out if need to do something else...
BTW: When need to use --complete-graph option?

Why not use it always? See the emerge manpage. |

Do not know.. This option not mentioned in Handbook, and 'man emerge' says:
"the --complete-graph option will significantly increase the time taken for dependency calculations."
Anyway I will use it from now on, in order to be on the safe side, and hope it will take reasonable time...

You should post build.log of programs that fails with wgetpaste _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Guess I am not understanding what exactly need to do... I just run following command but looks ok:
Code: | revdep-rebuild
* This is the new python coded version
* Please report any bugs found using it.
* The original revdep-rebuild script is installed as revdep-rebuild.sh
* Please file bugs at: https://bugs.gentoo.org/
* Collecting system binaries and libraries
* Checking dynamic linking consistency
Your system is consistent |
May be need to use revdep-rebuild with particular packages?? _________________ “You can take our property, our sweet homes, even our cloths...

Code: | You runned command revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6' -- --exclude gcc? |
No, I thought it is an example and just had run revdep-rebuild...
After running:
Code: | revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6' -- --exclude gcc |
I get in the last line of output:
Code: | emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "www-plugins/adobe-flash:2". |
And when trying to update the system get the same error as before -
Aa can see in that output of my previous output, there is a message regarding flash - may be can helpsome?:
Code: | * Messages for package www-plugins/adobe-flash-27.0.0.130-r1:
* Fetch failed for 'www-plugins/adobe-flash-27.0.0.130-r1', Log file:

Remove this package emerge -C www-plugins/adobe-flash:2 and then re-run

Yes, either that or manually change the slot to 0.5 in the emerge list. |

You can put all output with wgetpaste? _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

EDIT: Looks it is not all output - somehow last part is missing, hope it helps, if not I will try other way... _________________ “You can take our property, our sweet homes, even our cloths...

Looks like you got hit by this idiotic change - save yourself a few hours of needless recompiling by doing this first. (This is a separate problem, the other posts here still apply) |

Ant P.,
I am trying to do what you suggested, before going on, but get this:
Code: | # echo "0/1" | tee /var/db/pkg/sys-libs/zlib-1.2.11/SLOT /var/db/pkg/app-arch/bzip2-1.0.6-r8/SLOT
tee: /var/db/pkg/sys-libs/zlib-1.2.11/SLOT: No such file or directory |
Need to create SLOT file before? What kind of file is it? _________________ “You can take our property, our sweet homes, even our cloths...

No simply current version of zlib is 1.2.11-r1, then run
Code: | # echo "0/1" | tee /var/db/pkg/sys-libs/zlib-1.2.11-r1/SLOT /var/db/pkg/app-arch/bzip2-1.0.6-r8/SLOT |

Now it is ok... and I will go ahead with remain issues
