Which firefox do you use?
Regular www-client/firefox - this is the normal Gentoo way even with a slow box

I use both firefox and firefox-bin to have a fallback if a just-installed version doesn’t work well.

It turn off telemetry and data reporting (or tries at least), applies opensuse-kde patches, also extra patches from fedora and debian, disables spying system extensions and disables some options.
It is maintained in my overlay.
