gentoo downloaded linux-2.4.19-xfs-r1 .... I am using linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r7 (xfs).... is it worth installing ?

Past scope of initial installation, moving to OTG. Your question is a difficult one to answer. All I can say is this: 2.4.19-gentoo-r7, despite the "19" in the name, is 2.4.18 + a bunch of patches. 2.4.19-xfs-r1 is based on the released 2.4.19.

EDIT: I was updating my portage tree as I wrote this originally. I assume you mean whatever comes from "xfs-sources-2.4.19.ebuild". Note that that is an XFS CVS snapshot, and not the official SGI 1.1 XFS, if this matters to you. 2.4.19-gentoo-r7 contains the released XFS 1.1 patches.
