When I try:
root# emerge --ask at a-kernel/linux-firmware

It fails to install every time. Not sure what could cause this? I'm kinda new to linux in general so any help would be much appreciated

Hi,

Can you provide the full output of the command, and the output of "emerge --info" ?

And also correct command that you run, because
Code:
# emerge --ask at a-kernel/linux-firmware

makes no sense.

here is the output when I try to get the firmware package:

Code:
(chroot) sysresccd /usr/src/linux # emerge --ask sys-kernel/linux-firmware

 * IMPORTANT: config file '/etc/portage/package.accept_keywords' needs updating.
 * See the CONFIGURATION FILES and CONFIGURATION FILES UPDATE TOOLS
 * sections of the emerge man page to learn how to update config files.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild  N     ] sys-kernel/linux-firmware-20170314  USE="-savedconfig"

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] y

This mirror appears to be dead. Try another mirror that you can connect to (list of Gentoo mirrors) and I believe that will solve the problem.

OP: use two dashes, as shown in xaviermiller's request: emerge --info (right), not emerge -info (wrong).

Why CHOST="x86_64-gentoo-linux-uclibc"? And why still no code tags after your previous posts have been edited by moderators to format them properly.

sorry about the code tags, Im new to this and still learning it all. to make a code tag does it go:
Code:
whatever code I want to display
?

Also, What does CHOST usually say if not CHOST="x86_64-gentoo-linux-uclibc", did I download the wrong tarball?
