I'm about to move over my last laptop to Gentoo, currently had to be Windows 10 pro for work.

My wireless card is Reaktek using the driver rtl8188EE, I've done a bit of Googlefu and it seems like a specific family of drivers that Gentoo and Arch were having problems with a few years ago (2010 - 2014). I have't found too many issues lately.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of these drivers recently and how support is for them?

Supported in kernel just fine. You need rtlwifi/rtl8188efw.bin from sys-kernel/linux-firmware

That's great info guys, thanks so much for that. Lenovo is supposed to be really good for Linux compatibility but, I was looking at these search results and thinking "God, I'd buy the one laptop that was going to give me trouble."
