Xfce buttons not working usually means you don't have the required upower/policykit/consolekit/systemd parts configured correctly. Check suspend works at that level of the stack.

pm-suspend in cli doesn't seem to work either

i don't know about systemd i use open-rc

cat /var/log/pm-suspend.log (after pm-suspend)

I copied this gentoo from another computer so
@ the moment i do a emerge -ve xfce-base/xfce4-meta xfce-extra/xfce4-notifyd
maybe this can help

still doen't work :roll: is there a way log pm-suspend

i finally found it... my mistake, a bad script in /etc/pm/sleep.d prevented suspend
