K3b hangs every time I try and create an audio cd. Steps to reproduce:
Start k3b from the Multimedia menu
Select New Audio CD Project
Use the navigate menu to open a directory with Audio Files
Drag a file into the lower Current Projects Windows.
A dialog box appears with the title "Please be patient .." and sometimes you can see "Analyzing File X"
It can be killed by clicking the right hand corner X in either the dialog box or the main window. If I launch it from a terminal prompt, none of the output appears to offer any useful information. Here is what appears:

| If that is an option for you, kde overlay currently provides k3b-17.07.80 which has some AudioCD related fixes, but no particular commit I could point at... |

I'm certainly willing to give another version of k3b a try. Is it possible to just do k3b? Or am I going to have to do the whole shebang?

I've installed and tried 17.07.80. Simply unmasking doesn't appear to work for k3b-17.08.49.9999.ebuild or k3b-9999.ebuild. The same problem appears when I run 17.07.80.

| I will post a bug in the kde bug tracker. My experience with them has been worse than awful. Trivial but annoying bugs with the fix provided and high number of up votes remain unresolved for YEARS. That wasn't the only problem. My impression is they definitely don't want to hear from anyone who isn't in the club. |

That's clearly not the case, but it is a sign of unmaintained packages. And any number of upvotes is meaningless in most bugzillas I have come across.
For patch submissions, bugzilla has always been a terrible place; it is best done via their phabricator resource. I've had to pick up a few foreign patches myself from ignored bugs, took them to reviewboard/phabricator and most often got timely responses/reviews/acks. |

Several hours finding the root cause and a years worth of emails from people complaining in the bug tracker left an impression on me. We will have to disagree.
The issue turns out to be that TAGLIB use flag needed to be enabled on k3b in order for mp3 files to work and kde-frameworks/kfilemetadata for FLAC files to work.
