I bought a new 21' wide screen LED monitor from LG (flatron e2241)
After connecting to my laptop I don't see any resolutions higher than 1024x768.
I've played around with xrandr and cvt, and was able to configure 1366x768 (max resolution supported by my laptop display). Still the screen is like stretched around (due to it being widescreen), fonts look a bit blurry etc.
I tried going for 1920x1080 resolution, but it only shows part of the screen and wasn't able to get it to work properly.
This is what I have currently without manually adding additional display modes
Code: |

My laptop has hybrid graphics with radeon & intel, not sure if it is possible to take full advantage of my monitors resolution.
Please advise, thanks. |

Why would you connect through VGA? Do you have the same issue when connecting through HDMI? _________________ “And even in authoritarian countries, information networks are helping people discover new facts and making governments more accountable.”– Hillary Clinton, Jan. 21, 2010 |

Switching to HDMI made things a bit better, fonts are crisp and max resolution of my laptop display works perfectly on the external monitor.
Other than that, 1920x1080p display has a few issues but I was able to get it fixed earlier but after some xorg / kernel config changes things the issues started

As for how it looks like in 1920x1080p

I have limited experience with xrandr, tried to learn as much as I could on my own but I'm not sure if I should spend more time messing around with the flags --panning, --scale, etc.
What do you guys think? |

It seems odd to me that the output for LVDS-1 does not show a current resolution, but that may not be important. It also looks like the external display is showing the same thing as the laptop display, not an extended screen. Have you tried using the --right-of or --left-of options in xrandr? |
