Laptop Screen blanks once in awhile ...

Hi,
I am using gentoo on the tuxedo infinity book 13".
Once in a while the laptop screen will simply black while working with battery power.
During this black out the laptop is still not suspended.

There is only one way of getting the screen back. I need to close the lid, wait a few seconds
For the OS to suspend and then reopen the lid.

This does not happen with Ubuntu, so I figure something is wrong with my gentoo. But what?

I can see anything in the logs...

If it helps I am using mate desktop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you looked at the dmesg output after it happens? Maybe it contains some useful info.
