|
|
So I recently purchased a new webcam (Logitech C920). This was replacing an older webcam I had not used in a while. I went to use it on https://appear.in (an HTML5 WebRTC video chat site) and the video worked just fine but firefox could not detect the microphone. The cameras usb microphone is present alsamixer, and I can record both video and audio in guvcviewer. I am using alsa only (no pulse audio). Going back and trying to use my old webcam presented the same issue (video good, but no audio) I am able to share my camera, but no option is presented to share a microphone.
Doing some searching it appears that firefox has some issues when there are multiple sound devices present with an alsa only setup? (saw this arch forum post).
Also looks like there was some evidence pointing to this in the gentoo alsa wiki.
It would seem I need to make the cameras usb mic the default mic device? Any help getting this configured properly would be appreciated
Edit: Firefox version 52.2.0

I forgot to mention which version of firefox I was on. I am using 52.2.0 as well.
Doron: I suppose you were trying to use https://appear.in as well?
Makes me wonder if this could be a new Firefox bug.. |

whiterabbot indeed so.
I have some good and bad news;
I emerged the an unstable firefox-54.0 and the mic issue is resolved there.
However there's a new issue which is the audio output- I'm getting noises and I cannot find a way
to fix it. _________________ Common sense is not so common. (Voltaire) |
