Quick question.
Where is tomboy note managing application gone?
Is it gone from gentoo?
Is there a replacement anywhere that is compatible? |

Tomboy was removed because there is no developer for maintain it (bug).
A possible alternative is gnote
Code: | * app-misc/gnote
Available versions: 3.22.1 {debug}
Homepage: https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Gnote
Description: Desktop note-taking application |

bijiben is another alternative. Both seem to be sort of successors to Tomboy. gnote was a C++ "port" of it (by people that didn't like C# already long ago); bijiben also sort of tomboy related, even includes all tomboy authors and copyright in AUTHORS, but I'm not sure of the exact relationship.
Both should be able to import tomboy notes, at least there's code for it, haven't tried. _________________ GNOME team lead; GStreamer; MIPS/ARM64 |

There are lots of similar alternatives, I particularly like Zim (x11-misc/zim)
The "Desktop Wiki" branding sounds a bit over-complicated and unappealing but it's a really simple yet powerful note-taking program. http://zim-wiki.org/ |
