This is very annoying and has happened to me several times now.
Running plasma. At some point, I noticed that all of the applications that were docked in the panel are no longer there. They are still running (verified by ps and top), but I don't know how to access them (or even if it is possible to still access them). They don't show up in the switcher (alt+tab) either.
Is there some way of recovering these without having to kill and restart them?

Nice try (I was rather optimistic), but it didn't work (no output or change of any kind). Am able to get the window IDs using the -p option, but the raise or activate commands don't do anything. |
