Pulseaudio fails to start, as it should, at the start of a session. When I start it from an xfce4 terminal, I get Quote: | W: [pulseaudio] source.c: Default and alternate sample rates are the same.
E: [pulseaudio] bluez5-util.c: GetManagedObjects() failed: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited: Launch helper exited with unknown return code | Despite this it does seem to work as it should from this point on. I'm using pulseaudio-10.0 and bluez-5.44.. Nothing critical here, but I would like to clean it up. Any ideas? Thanks,
Fred

The first line is a warning, it do not prevent Pulseaudio to start. The default and the alternate sample rates are the same what should'nt be. You can change that by editing the file /etc/pulse/daemon.conf.
The second line may refer to the Bluetooth service not being started. _________________ Paul |

The first warning wasn't really concerning me. I hadn't changed daemon.conf as I wasn't clear on how to set sample-rates. After some fiddling I came up with Code: | default-sample-rate = 48000
alternate-sample-rate = 44100 | This gets rid of the warning while the default with these reversed gave the warning! I'm very unclear on why bluetooth should be needed on my desktop, but I tried pulseaudio with bluetooth started and got the same problem. Your input was appreciated though. Thanks. |

The problem was that I didn't have bluetooth enabled in my kernel. Doing that, and then starting bluetooth (also added it with rc-update) and pulseaudio starts with no error messages. It's a minor mystery to me that bluetooth is needed when I have no bluetooth hardware in my system. |
