Hi,
Regarding the KDE "Get Hot New Stuff" application which was supposed to automate the process of getting new wallpapers and themes, did it ever worked correctly? In my built, half of the time it works, a quarter is says it worked but nothing shows up and another quarter it can't find the supposed downloadable. Is this application bugged in Gentoo distro?
Nelson

Not familiar. How did you install it?

I don't appear to have it. Are you running testing branch?

'Get Hot New Stuff' is the dialog that appears when you e.g. go to 'configure desktop' and hit 'Get New Wallpapers'. I just tried, 3/4 wallpapers installed fine, the last one made a dialog appear that it would overwrite some path in ~/.local that obviously was no image file so I had to cancel it.
So it works, but there seems to be no curation of the addon sources at all - like a mini CI that would validate the contents of uploads to their site. And especially with themes, which are much more complicated than wallpapers, the situation is bad - if the theme you pick does work at all, the install button often only leads to a manual download (of several parts) in many cases, leaving it unclear how to proceed. The best advice I can give is to stick with the best rated stuff.
That's not Gentoo's problem, ofc. |

Great to know that I'm not the only one having trouble with Plasma. Thanks! |
