|

Hi,
emerge --depclean -av wants to remove a lot of KDE packages. I think some of them are really needed, e.g. kde-apps/phonon-kde:
Code: | All selected packages: =kde-apps/kcmshell-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kfile-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kurifilter-plugins-16.04.3 =kde-apps/keditfiletype-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kdebase-runtime-meta-16.04.3 =kde-apps/phonon-kde-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kquitapp-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kpasswdserver-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kstart-16.04.3 =kde-apps/ktraderclient-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kdebase-menu-icons-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kmimetypefinder-16.04.3 =kde-apps/knewstuff-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kdebase-menu-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kimgio-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kreadconfig-16.04.3 =kde-apps/renamedlg-plugins-16.04.3 =kde-apps/solid-runtime-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kdontchangethehostname-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kdebase-desktoptheme-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kiconfinder-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kdebugdialog-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kdesu-16.04.3
| Yesterday's update was not having this issue.
Complete Code: http://pastebin.com/sCZasAGQ
Solution: `emerge --noreplace kdebase-runtime-meta` thanks to asturm

I just updated this one item
[ebuild R ] kde-apps/kdecore-meta-16.08.3 USE="(-minimal%)"
Then ran
I then had all of the ones that you posted plus these three.
=kde-apps/kdebase-data-16.04.3 =kde-apps/ktimezoned-16.04.3 =kde-apps/kioclient-16.04.3
I'm going to wait for some kind of info about it before I do it. |

None of those scheduled for depclean is necessary at runtime anymore. Only if you were using e.g. kdepim:4 or konqueror:4 as a file browser would you possibly need some parts of it for changing default applications. |

Thank you Asturm for the info.
I had already used the --depclean because I had a backup if it was needed.
But it was nice of you to tell us. |

And? They're optional runtime deps. If you want to keep them, `emerge --noreplace kdebase-runtime-meta` |
