Hey, Ive installed Gentoo and I have to say that Im really amazed with its spped and stability.
I have some questions here:
1. I have 2 servers (both running Gentoo; physical machine; call it BCK and PROD; there are in different DCs) and I want to make backups of PROD and store it on BCK. How this is to e done?
2. Is there equivalent of apt local cache dir? does portage have sth alike?
3. How often is Gentoo updated?
Thanks, |

I have a similar situation doing a hourly backing up IMAP mail from a mail server to a desktop by rsync.
The Gentoo portage tree is updated every 10 minutes. I update once a day using a small script. |

There are many ways this can be done. Here's one that I've used: https://github.com/TheChymera/mkstage4

Sources are normally stored in /usr/portage. Tarballs go in /usr/portage/distfiles.

Gentoo is a rolling distribution, so it's continually updated. |
