|
|
After today's sync, hardened-sources wants to get pulled in:
Code: | # emerge -uDavNt world
These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[nomerge ] app-portage/mirrorselect-2.2.2-r2::gentoo PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_4"
[ebuild U ] dev-python/ssl-fetch-0.4::gentoo [0.3::gentoo] PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_4 (-pypy) (-python3_5)" 12 KiB
[ebuild U ] net-dns/bind-tools-9.11.0_p3::gentoo [9.11.0_p2::gentoo] USE="ipv6 readline seccomp ssl xml -doc -gost -gssapi -idn (-libressl) -urandom" 9,465 KiB
[nomerge ] app-emulation/virtualbox-modules-5.0.32::gentoo USE="-pax_kernel"
[nomerge ] virtual/linux-sources-1::gentoo USE="-firmware"
[ebuild N ] sys-kernel/hardened-sources-4.8.17-r2:4.8.17-r2::gentoo USE="-build -deblob -symlink" 91,997 KiB
Total: 3 packages (2 upgrades, 1 new), Size of downloads: 101,473 KiB
Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]
|
I looked at the ebuild for virtual/linux-sources-1 and it looks like a big logic-or of any sources, including gentoo-sources, which is in my /var/lib/portage/world:
Code: | # grep gentoo-sources /var/lib/portage/world
sys-kernel/gentoo-sources
sys-kernel/gentoo-sources:4.4.39
sys-kernel/gentoo-sources:4.9.7
|
Any thoughts?
Code: | # emerge --info

What happens if you explicitly prohibit Portage from installing sys-kernel/hardened-sources? Does it produce an error message? Does it switch to the desired package? |

Interestingly, masking sys-kernel/hardened-sources works. I should have thought of that. After my next sync, I'll try removing the mask and see if it is just a temporary state.
Thanks! |

Well, after a sync today, now it wants to pull in sys-kernel/openvz-sources-2.6.32.111.12:2.6.32.111.12::gentoo. I guess I'm going to have to mask all the kernels but the one I want, which works for me.
This only happens with a deep world update too, re-installing virtual/linux-sources or not doing a deep update doesn't pull in any new kernels. |

That sounds like there is something wrong elsewhere, and masking merely hides the symptoms. You could try temporarily masking all kernel source packages to see if that will force Portage to give an error message explaining the origin of this dependency. |

I found it. Quite some time ago i tried gentoo-sources-4.9.7. Since it was ~amd64, I added it to my accept.keywords and my world file. More recently I removed it from accept.keywords, but forgot it was in my world file. Removing the specific version from my world file takes care of my issue and I can remove all the masking.
Thanks for the suggestions. |
