Just yesterday I switched my webserver to a hardened toolchain & kernel (4.8.17-hardened-r2). Everything else went as planned, except one thing: I'm watching the temperatures and everything else happening in the server via a remotely connected Gkrellm instance. With hardened kernel I lost the sensors and networking data from the Gkrellm, the rest was working as before.
I got the sensors data back by disabling GRKERNSEC_SYSFS_RESTRICT in kernel, but I haven't yet figured out how to get networking data back. I'm aware that this disabling of security features in the kernel is not the ideal way of doing things. Any ideas of what else I should do / should have done in this situation? _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"
