I live in Christchurch, where this guy lives. He's something of a national (we only have 4million ppl) treasure. Quite a good speaker if you ever get to here one of his rants :)
New Zealand is a pretty great place to live as well.
kipper - feel free to look me up when you get to Christchurch if you've got no geeks to talk to.

Cheers
Brad

New Zaland is great, no worries of people wanting to bomb us, no terrible crime (here in Dunedin anyway), no shootings every day.

We are the only country in the world to get all four seasons so our scenery is never ending. From Dunedin a couple of hours would see you in New Zealands best ski fields..........

I could go on for hours. Have been to Melborne and Brisbane in Australia but I came home (full of bloody australians) been to Rarotonga great if you can stand the heat came home and were going to have a baby, not bloody going back there again.

Regards
Tim

I've seen this guy twice in action. Be aware that you have to be an excellent speaker and have the wits to keep people interested in your topics. And yes - NZ is an excellent place to live in!

I'm sure I am missing something here, but lots of places around the world do get all four seasons :)

Well, many regions in the US have 'all four seasons'. I'm trying to escape the colder ones actually. In lieu of a better option, which IMO the US doesn't have, California is my goal.

 I was thinking mainly from the standpoint that a gov't that did this just might be a good place to live. I am in no way qualified to apprentice for the job, let alone do it. ;)

That contradicts itself. Are you trying to say that every physical location within NZ experiences four seasons? That is different than saying NZ is the only country to have four seasons.

Put it this way.... If your at the bottom of the South Island OR at the top of the North Island you see trees shed their leaves in autumn and blossom in spring it gets cold in winter and hot in summer.

Here in Dunedin we can go from snow to sea level in winter and minus a few degrees centigrade to around thirty odd in the summer.

Our neighbours in Australia don't get this as the top of their country is near the equator so it's never winter as such. It gets cooler during winter months but it's still hotter than our summer.

Regards
Tim

what they mean is that winter in the land of the long white cloud covers the whole country, and in Summer, also covers the whole country. In Australia however, it's bloody -10C in Canberra, and 25 on the Gold Coast.

But that's good cause we can migrate during the winter months hehe :)

Did you hear that they found a new use for sheep? Someone figured out how to get wool from them.

[devil's advocate] I'm sure some of the smaller european nations would have something to say about this. [/devil's advocate]

I was thinking exactly the same. In Middle Europe temperatures range from between -10° in Winter to +35° in Summer - the only difference to NZ is that Summer is in Jun-Sep and not from Dec-Feb.

There are many countries in the world with 4 distinct seasons.

My birtcountry is one of them, Norway :)
