|
|
Hello,
There seems to be a problem with one of my controllers: Saitek combat pedals. I also have a throttle quadrant and a pro flight yoke, and they both work. My kernel is configured like so:
Code: | Input device support --->
<*> Generic input layer
<*> joystick/Gamepads --->
<*> Classic PC analog joysticks and gamepads |
They are all joysticks from the same manufacturer, Saitek. I wish I could give more information, or do some debugging, but I am pretty new to Linux, and, so far, being able to successfully install Gentoo, and within Gentoo my X-Plane simulator with no issues is an achievement...I hope someone can help me out, it is my last step, at least for now. I will provide any info you request, many thanks
EDIT: this is lsusb run result:

The Saitek Rudder pedals issue has been resolved!
The problem lies with the fact that the rudder pedals are inputs which don't have buttons, but only one axis, while, for Linux, a joystick is something that has two axis and some buttons...so, the two likely solutions are:
1) Running X-Plane with root privileges
2) Create a rule that will detect the hardware
I chose solution n.2, by creating a rule in /etc/udev/rules.d.
After creating a file for my joystick in udev, and rebooting the system, upon fireup, X-Plane was able to detect the new hardware.
I hope this will be of some help for new X-Plane users in Linux, just like me. |
