Linux.com: "Best distribution for those with something to prove: Gentoo"
https://www.linux.com/news/learn/sysadmin/best-linux-distributions-2017
Strange label. I haven't got anything to prove; I just want to have as much control over my installation as possible. _________________ Clevo W230SS: amd64, VIDEO_CARDS="intel modesetting nvidia".

Sounds like a clickbait article without reading. These days there are a lot of clickbaits.
I can only claim what works the best for myself, but not in general whats the best. It always depends on the use case.

Quote: | Parrot Linux. This particular distribution is based on Debian and offers nearly every penetration testing tool you could possibly want. You will also find tools for cryptography, cloud, anonymity, digital forensics, programming, and even productivity. All of these tools (and there are many) are coupled with an already rock-solid foundation to create a Linux distribution perfect for the security and network administrator |
Just clickbait link. You can say that for mostly any distribution. The common tools will be / should be available for any common distribution.
I also just see the usual suspects.
SUSE (german audience)
CENTOS (old guys who used REDHAT)
UBUNTU, than debian mentioned again
some exotics
I doubt the author had really insight on those all distros he mentioned. He just glued some informations together from other articles probably. |

I have nothing to prove, just using a computer the way I want to. It is a tool according to my preference. No pissing contest, no fanfare, just me using a computer. Nobody I know with a life really cares that much. Every year there is a new "Bubblegum" Linux that comes out and most of them fade away and people go back to their steady tried & true. Whatever toots your tooter, go for it!
Now the Apple-MacPro bro's, those are the people who seem to have something to prove. |

I don't think Linux.com has ever been anything besides a punchline in the rest of the Linux world. It's one of those irrelevant Corporate Wank websites that only seem to get mentioned outside their echo chamber by saying something idiotic like this. |
