I installed freshplayerplugin-0.3.5-r2 and adobe-flash-23.0.0.207 (as adobe-flash:22), and I'm still getting "error while decoding media resource" messages stopping the stream....
What driver/codec/plugin might I be missing?
Edit: Or, it just restarts the stream without an error message. Always at the same spot in the video (I'm trying to watch a past VOD).
More specifically, I'm trying to watch Squirrel's latest Transport Fever all-day stream VOD, and it fails right at the end of his intro countdown...

Teegrins, StoneC0ld!
I'm not sure if Twitch still has the flash-player, but I know it should work OK with html5 now.
That being said, which version of Firefox are you using? There seems to be an issue with the latest versions, which I'm guessing might be what you are experiencing as well.

I have 45.5.0 installed, the default version in portage last weekend when I emerged it.
Since I made that post, it's become more apparent that this problem was more related to that specific spot in that particular video. I've had the video play just fine on other Squirrel VODs and livestreams through the end of his intro countdown and into the stream itself since then, and I found I could simply click past the point of the error in that particular VOD that had the problem and watch the video fine. So, pending an update that might fix it, I do have a workaround that works if this happens again.
Thanks for the response. |

Ah, my guess did not strike true at all, then.
I also remembered, some time after posting, that there is that option in the Twitch player that allows for disabling the html5-player... I removed all forms of adobe-flash from my machine over a year ago, and have been using livestreamer and/or youtube-dl to get to the streams, so I don't often check the actual Twitch player. :]
I'm glad to see that you got things figured out regardless! _________________ Kindest of regardses. |
