Cinnamon DE: 'Quit' and 'Logout' Doesn't Work

Hello, Good Morning. I've just completed my gentoo installation and emerged the Cinnamon desktop environment (default de for Mint). I've never ran into this problem before; I can't logout or shutdown the environment or my pc from the menu. If I click either option, the menu closes and the command is ignored. the 'reboot' command, however, works just fine if I use sudo (sudo has been emerged as well) in a terminal. Can someone please shed light on this issue? It probably has to do with the installation of either 'Cinnamon' or 'sudo', but I've never seen this happen before. Despite my novice level of knowledge about linux, I've installed Gentoo (successfully, I might add) many times.
