Hi Im not sure if I did this correctly....I want true type fonts in X copied over from my ms partition....but this is the way i did it
http://www.xpenguin.com/documentation_ttf.php
from the directions there i
1. You should load the truetype support module, so in your XF86Config you should have the next line: ' Load "freetype" ' .
2. Add the directory of your truetype fonts, again, in XF86Config, the line: ' FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/" '.
3. Copy the .ttf files to that dir.
4. Make a files.dir file, which contains info on your truetype fonts. It can be done using a program called 'ttmkfdir', you can get it from freshmeat. Just run in your truetype fonts directory 'ttmkfdir > fonts.dir'.
5. Restart X, it should work.
still didnt work.....but it worked once i
rc-update add xfs default
now i have the X Font Server running and my fonts show up....now i had gentoo installed with all my TTF fonts installed using kde's font installer and they worked in gnome/kde/fluxbox
but i just recently did a clean install with gcc3.2 and gnome only no more kde.
and the old way i did it (though kde's installer) i didnt have the XFS daemon running to be able to have all my fonts viewable and now i have to use XFS
any comments on how i can have my m$ ttf fonts without_ the xfs daemon running? |
