Hi, since latest upgrade to www-client/chromium-53.0.2785.89 chromium asks for keyring password at startup. Dialog is titled "Choose password for new keyring", is this a gnome thing? Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks.
My use flags:
Code: |
[ebuild R ] www-client/chromium-53.0.2785.89::gentoo USE="cups hangouts (pic) proprietary-codecs system-ffmpeg tcmalloc -custom-cflags -gn -gnome -gnome-keyring (-gtk3) -kerberos (-neon) -pulseaudio (-selinux) {-test} -widevine" L10N="am ar bg bn ca cs da de el en-GB es es-419 et fa fi fil fr gu he hi hr hu id it ja kn ko lt lv ml mr ms nb nl pl pt-BR pt-PT ro ru sk sl sr sv sw ta te th tr uk vi zh-CN zh-TW" 0 KiB

I see the same thing -- don't like it but don't know how
to fix it either ... _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

The chromium(1) manpage has this, does it help?
Code: | --password-store=<basic|gnome|kwallet>
Set the password store to use. The default is to automatically
detect based on the desktop environment. basic selects the
built in, unencrypted password store. gnome selects Gnome
keyring. kwallet selects (KDE) KWallet. (Note that KWallet may
not work reliably outside KDE.) |

@Ant P.: I don't know, after today's update to 53.0.2785.92 it works again as before. |

For me, nothing has changed since the update to 53.0.2785.92. Pop-up still there

Since at least www-client/chromium-54.0.2840.16:0 the problem is gone. _________________ The message is Feierei, alder! The message is Gude Laune, alder! [Sven] |

This is how I got rid of the Chromium keyring login screen:
Goto /etc/chromium and edit the file named "default" and change the following line of code:
Change this:
#CHROMIUM_FLAGS=""
To this:
CHROMIUM_FLAGS="--password-store=basic"
Make sure and remove the preceding '#' symbol as well.
Fire up your Chromium and the nag screen SHOULD be gone now.
