I'm new to Gento and it seems like profiles are big thing there. My 'eselect profile list' says that I am using:
[1] default/linux/amd64/13.0 *
-Will multilib work with this profile?
-What I need to install Steam after installing base system? |

Hi B9707C6887CD8B31AB6F62718, welcome to Gentoo
answering your questions, multilib is supported: you can follow this wiki to introduce it in your AMD64 system
Please note that there are other approaches to apply multilib:
- emul-linux, which is now dismissed: you can't use it, but there is the chance you'll find some docs online talking about it
- gx86-multilib: the one in the wiki above
- multilib-portage: it is mentioned somewhere (there is also an Overlay with this name), seems to be complex and I can't find a plain guide for it... My suggestion is to avoid it
Speaking of Steam, there is a guide for it in the wiki: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Steam
This will help you also in setting up the multilib you need for it _________________ Regards

Profiles that lack multilib are specifically mentioned in their name. Your profile does not say no-multilib, so you have multilib support. Beware that this does not mean that everything is automatically built in both x86 and amd64 versions. It only means that you can do that for packages where you choose to do so. You could choose to do it broadly, but that is likely not a good use of system resources. |

You are OK to work in 32 and 64 bit architectures. Noobs like us are advised to install multilib stages since no-multilib supports only 64 bits. Trying to convert from no- to multilib after installation apparently is the devil's own work. |

This will build everything also 32-bit. I wouldn't do it to any of my boxes. |
