I cannot start X, well, X starts, but I cannot login, slim fails to start the window manager. startx as root can successfully start it, it can also start the window manager through .xinitrc (XFCE).
I have this in my slim.log:
Code: |
slim: open_session: Unable to open session: Failed to execute program org. freedesktop.ConsoleKit: Permission denied
|
I can also see this:
Code: |
# ck-list-sessions
(ck-list-sessions:26861): GLib-WARNING **: GError set over the top of a previous GError or uninitialized memory.
This indicates a bug in someone's code. You must ensure an error is NULL before it's set.
The overwriting error message was: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ExecFailed: Failed to execute program org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit: Permission denied
Segmentation fault
|
In dmesg:
Code: |
[ 1403.538519] traps: ck-list-session[26861] general protection ip:7f43e8f177ac sp:7ffff0507b10 error:0 in libc-2.22.so[7f43e8ecf000+192000]

I tried to emerge glibc and consolekit, it didn't help, still a black screen when I try to login. What should I do? All I did was do a simple world update, then this happened after I rebooted. I also emerged some new programs since last time I rebooted, but I unmerged those just to be safe. |
