Hi,

trying to emerge latest docker results in:

>>> Compiling source in /var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/docker-1.12.0_rc2/work/docker-1.12.0_rc2 ...
* ERROR: app-emulation/docker-1.12.0_rc2::gentoo failed (compile phase):
* hardened sed failed
*
* Call stack:
* ebuild.sh, line 115: Called src_compile
* environment, line 3332: Called die
* The specific snippet of code:
* grep -q -- '-fno-PIC' hack/make/dynbinary || die 'hardened sed failed';

Is this a known issue? Any ideas?

You may provide more stuff / data

First sync, try again.

when it fails again than provide all stuff, as mentioned by the error message of portage, thanks

build errors without any data / setup of the box are kinda worthless. Therefore portage even tells you waht to provide these days.

Okay, and now for a useful answer!

Looks like you're using hardened? Those build failures are unavoidable sometimes because it tries to blanket-enforce strict CFLAGS on all ebuilds, but it doesn't work automatically in all cases. You should file a bug, the maintainers will want to fix the ebuild in this case.

Hi,

same problem here. The solution is quite simple. I filled a bug with a patch for the ebuild here:
