Had the same problem, solved it by setting "system-ffmpeg" in the USE flag.
But it would be nice if sb. explained this. |

i did have that useflag unset... as in use=-system-ffmpeg _________________ “Music is a moral law. Yeah, but then it pulls in ffmpeg which in turn is blocked by libav (if installed as it is on my system).
So to install chromium the whole system has to use ffmpeg instead of libav? |

If you put something like:

www-client/chromium -system-ffmpeg

in your /etc/portage/package.use, then it will use the bundled ffmpeg, and you won't explicitly have ffmpeg installed. However, as Ant P. pointed out, you're getting ffmpeg one way or another. I ran into this problem as well, and just decided that, for now, I'll use the ffmpeg bundled with Chromium and stick to libav for everything else. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)
