When my laptop boots, the tty's have no working agetty.
It shows:
Code: | This is laptop.mydoman._ |
With a blinking cursor at the end.
Keyboard input is echoed to the screen but does nothing at all.
agetty is started as I can see it with ps
When KDE is started, I can start Konsole and give the command:
And agetty is restarted and works ok.
But when X does not start... I have a problem.
I can't find a way to kill agetty at boot time, even when this is a dirty method but I sometimes really need to login at a tty or else I have to boot my laptop with an usb stick and chroot into my system.
I can of course make an sddm1st script that does the trick and then starts the real sddm but if anybody has a better solution, it is welcome. _________________ niemand is onbekwamer, dan een timmerman zonder hamer

Does mingetty work any better? (install it and change one of the VTs in inittab to look like "c3:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty --noclear --loginpause tty3", no need to change them all) |

Yeah! that works!
Thanks Ant. P.
I tried qingy but that didn't work either. After rc said: starting local
.. nothing happened.
But I am glad it works now. _________________ niemand is onbekwamer, dan een timmerman zonder hamer
