Hello,
A few weeks ago, I had no trouble burning DVDs on my computers (two different machines and three burners). Now, nothing works :cry: I'm not sure if I have run into a very bad batch of media (Verbatim DVD+RW) or else...
With K3B, burning starts by "Preformatting DVD", and stays there. The progress bar goes calmly to 100%, and then restarts from 0% to 100%, again and again.
With dvd+rw-format, the "formatting XX %" goes from 0 to 100 (takes some time), and then stays there with the turning bar alongside :
Code: |
$ time dvd+rw-format /dev/sr0
* BD/DVD±RW/-RAM format utility by <appro@fy.chalmers.se>, version 7.1.
* 4.7GB DVD+RW media detected.
* formatting 100.0\^C

I killed the process after almost 3 hours.
Burning DVD+R seems also to be troublesome, but since this means the media will go to the trash after failure, I did not extensively test it.
Any ideas ?
How could I investigate this problem ?
Tia,

It's been quite a while since I used k3b, tbh I find the command line tools more reliable. My starting point would be to check if you can burn a dvd using growisofs at lowest speed. |

I use xfburn and brasero. both work ok with all media I have used over the years. Including no brand $7.50 for 50pcs CDR's and DVD's. |
