Hi I would like to install gentoo on a PC in my office. The only outgoing connection allowed is HTTP, through a proxy at 8080. Am I still able to install gentoo, or do I need to set HTTP_PROXY anywhere? Thanks in advance! |

hi
yes u can, but i dunno how. but u can install it from an existing linux system.
the how-to is under
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/altinstall.html#doc_chap3
if u have no existing linux, you can download knoppix(knopper.net/knoppix) and boot from there. in knoppix u can config the internet acess.

Note that the environment variable is "http_proxy" all lowercase. HTTP_PROXY won't work. |
