Hi Gentoo,
it seems I have a bad week and am not able to modprobe the nvidia module. I always get the error:
Quote: | [ 240.171992] nvidia: no symbol version for i2c_del_adapter
[ 240.172538] nvidia: Unknown symbol i2c_del_adapter (err -22)
[ 240.173121] nvidia: no symbol version for i2c_add_adapter
[ 240.173655] nvidia: Unknown symbol i2c_add_adapter (err -22) |
I tried several kernel versions (linux-4.1.15-gentoo-r1, linux-4.4.6-gentoo, linux-4.6.0-gentoo) and nvidia-drivers version (361.28, 364.19). Due to booting with efistub, I use 'genkernel --integrated-initramfs --btrfs --udev all' to compile and generate the kernel. I attached my current config and dmesg from the boot. The error does not stem from a hardware issue, as I have a working backup os.
kernel config
dmesg
Any hints would be welcome

Hi,
I do not have any knowledge about GENKERNEL but I also use the NVIDIA drivers with UEFI Stub kernel.
First, are you sure that you use the correct kernel? This kind of message are often due to a nvidia module compiled for a bad kernel.
Example: You compile the NVIDIA drivers for a kernel 4.4.6 but you still use an older version as 4.2.2...
Verifiy the link to be sure that you have the correct kernel selected:
Quote: | ls -lh /usr/src/linux |
or with eselect
Quote: | eselect kernel list |
and verify that you have the same kernel loaded
