rsync error: received SIGINT, SIGTERM, or SIGHUP (code 20)

Trying to do an emerge --sync, and am getting the following:

timed out
rsync error: received SIGINT, SIGTERM, or SIGHUP (code 20) at rsync.c(636) [Receiver=3.1.2]
>>> Retrying...

... and so on for all of the rsync servers. Any ideas?

It looks like your problem is a timeout. The rsync signal interrupt is likely rsync's way of aborting the connection when the timeout occurs. When did this last work for this machine on this Internet connection? Is there an upstream firewall blocking rsync connections?
