|
|
I need to get a new video card that can drive at least three, preferably four, monitors at the same time.
Mostly what I do is CAD work (Circuit board layout, one monitor for schematic, one for PCB and one for the datasheet(s)), never games.
Monitors range from 22" to 32".
I want a board that has HDMI output for each monitor and that each monitor ideally has its own graphic memory.
Most of all I want hassle free install and usage with Linux.
Would like to spend less than $500 if that is possible with the above wish list.
Thank you. |

As there are almost no cards with 3 HDMI ports on the market, you will probably need one or more adapters. bpaddock wrote: | and that each monitor ideally has its own graphic memory. | Not sure what that means, each monitor of course has its own allocated framebuffer. Other than that, the GPU manages the graphics memory for all outputs. bpaddock wrote: | Most of all I want hassle free install and usage with Linux. | Any modern AMD (with open source driver) or NVidia (with proprietary driver) card should nowadays work fine. With AMD cards you need to keep in mind that a maximum of two non-identical non-DisplayPort monitors are supported, if you want to connect more you need active adapters. |

What sort of resolutions?
I think that 1920x1080 this is easy, but 4k displays would be more difficult. |
